I began reading a book that Patricia's mom gave us a way back, The Peacegiver by James Ferrel. I really like the book and the perspective that the author provides on the atonement of Christ. In this post, I wish to recount a tangential note from my reading. . .
Hyrum asked me to help him do something. I requested that he wait a couple more minutes because I was in the middle of reading something. I then decided to engage him in conversation, as he was waiting so patiently.
Me: “Do you know what I am reading?”
H: “No.”
“It’s a book called The Peacegiver.”
“Is it about Jesus?”
“Yes. And who do you think the Peacegiver is?”
“Jesus.”
“Yes. And why do you think he is called the Peacegiver?”
“Because he is kind, and he treats people nicely.”
“Yes, but why Peacegiver?”
“Because he gives Peace.”
“Do you know what Peace is?”
“Yes. It’s being kind to people and treating them nicely.”
I didn’t correct him. He was right. And a couple minutes later, it was evident that he was still thinking about the conversation:
H: “Jesus AND Heavenly Father are Peacegivers.”
Me: “How come?”
“Because they both are kind to people.”

Yes, Hyrum. Both Jesus and Heavenly Father are Peacegivers.
