Family News

Been a long time since I've taken the time to write a down-home journal entry. A lot has been happening, though I can't remember it all:

  • Disneyland trip. That was a blast. We loved the two parks and we all want to go back right away. We got spoiled in that we didn't have to stand in line very much at all. Often times we would walk right onto the rides. On average, we waited about 15-20 minutes for each ride with only a couple of waits over 40 minutes. My favorite was Soaring over California and the Orange Zipper (both at California Adventure). The three older kids loved California Screamer the most. Hyrum's favorite was Space Mountain and Star Tours. We liked Tower of Terror, too. And Buzz Lightyear was a blast. Took some of the family to the beach (John and Reed wanted to stay at the parks with cousins and grandparents) and the pictures are posted a couple of posts below.
  • I get to walk and recieve a Master's Degree on May 2nd. Happy day. Two more classes to take in the summer, but they should be easy and fun (web development and such).
  • Patricia is busy as the Stake YW President. She is planning banquets, youth conferences, girls' camps, firesides, and such. She attended the training put on by the General YW presidency a couple of weeks ago and reported that it was EXCELLENT and INSPIRING. And she is also still the PTA Treasurer, among other things. It's been some time since she's read a good book. Too bad the Harry Potter series is over, and Eoin Colfer doesn't get his books out quickly enough.
  • Hyrum and Anna start spring soccer tomorrow, not a day too soon. I get to coach Hyrum's team again because they didn't have enought coaches. Maybe next time I will just volunteer before they call looking for volunteers.
  • Lizzie is growing too fast. She talks so well and she loves to sing. Recently, we watched Alvin and the Chipmonks, so she likes those songs. She also likes to sing the songs from Disneychannel artists (since her siblings are always listening to them). Her favorites are still the primary hymns, though. She loves playing with stuffed animals, transformers with her brother, Hyrum, babies and all their accessories, and cars and legos. She also loves Candy.
  • John and Reed chose to participate in Basketball Skills training twice weekly instead of soccer. They really enjoy it and are improving rather quickly.
  • I am happy for the spring, but it's a bummer that the snow is not there to cover up our front dirt (where there should be lawn). I need to do something about that, and that is only one of about 100 items on the TO DO LIST. Maybe we'll plant a garden this year.
  • Anna has pet rats, now. Dad is a pushover and gets her just about anything she wants.
  • Hyrum inherited Anna's Gerbils.

That's all for now. . .
