Conference

Just got home from Priesthood session and I have a couple minutes to type before the kids get home with Patricia. What a great conference session. I always love Priesthood session. The music is always wonderful, and I feel so at home to be with priesthood brethren around the world as we listen to our prophet. There is something about singing songs with the priesthood brethren—it truly is invigorating.

I really liked all the talks tonight, of course. Elder Hallstrom’s talk impressed me a lot. As he talked about the importance of not procrastinating, I really felt the Spirit pushing me to do many things NOW. There is so much that I need to do.

I also liked Elder L. Tom Perry’s talk about raising the bar. Great analogies and great counsel.

Most touching to me was President Hinckley’s talk. Before he even came to the pulpit, as President Monson announced our prophet’s name, I felt a testimony burn in my heart of the truthfulness of the gospel, and of the Divine calling of President Hinckley as our current prophet. I feel so grateful that he is here to lead us. With regards to his talk, this is something I needed to hear. Too often I am short with my children—too often I resort to anger, instead of following the prompting of the Spirit to have patience and love. I felt sorrow as I thought of my sins in this area, and I felt a renewed commitment in my heart to be more kind, more gentle, and more loving in the home. My children need a loving father, ALL THE TIME, even when they are misbehaving---ESPECIALLY when they are misbehaving.

I was touched by President Eyring’s talk, too. He always speaks from the depths of his heart. He is such a genuine person, and I know that he has been called of God to serve us at this time.

How grateful I am for the gospel, for the prophets, the scriptures, and the church. I look forward to more great talks tomorrow.
