Alma 33:16

It is interesting to note when the Lord becomes angry. Knowing what angers the Lord might help us focus our minds and hearts on what truly matters. Zenock taught us about one behavior that angers the Lord:

That art angry, O Lord, with this people, because they will not understand thy mercies which thou hast bestowed upon them because of thy Son.

Here, we learn that the Lord is angry when we lack an understanding of His mercy. What actions might suggest that we lack an understanding of His mercy, or of the atonement?

  • Failing to forgive others;
  • Failing to forgive ourselves;
  • Fearing repentance;
  • Judging others;
  • What else can you think of?

I've shared this scripture a number of times to help others focus on repenting. The Lord isn't angry, per se, with sin; rather, he is angry when we fail to repent.
