Anna, Britton, Hyrum, and I drove out to the hills east of Eureka to do some rockhounding this past weekend. We had a lot of fun. At our first stop we did a fair amount of walking, but not a lot of rock-finding. The kids got a kick out of finding shotgun shells, and bullet casings. We stopped under a juniper tree to eat fruit snacks and drink some water.
At our second stop, we had a bit more success at finding some nice rocks--they look like agate or jasper. The kids were well behaved and really were a joy to have along. They didn't complain at all and were really patient with me. Let's hope this is the first of many rockhounding trips this summer.
