We've made it a family tradition to go to the State Fair. We just got back a little bit ago. It was a blast, and here's a quick recap.
- Kids were free and ride wristbands were 2 for 1. We decided to not go on the Big Yellow Slide (after four years in a row) because we had the wristbands for teh other rides. Each child went on about 10 rides, so we got our "money's worth".
- I will never ride The Zipper or The Ring of Fire again. Took Reed on the Zipper and John on the Ring of Fire. They were both rather terrified once the ride started; but so was I and I told them so. It was definately a rite of passage for them. They'll be talking about it for ages.
- I splurged near the end of the night and spend an additional $6/child for them to go on teh bungee trampolines. They loved it,and I loved watching them.
- I want to get a funnel cake next year. They looked so good and I've never had one. Couldn't get one this year, thanks to the Evil Zipper, and the Third Ring of Hell.
- Didn't walk around any exhibits. We wanted to focus on the kids and let them do what they wanted to do. For them, it was all about the rides.
- Hyrum loved the bounce house, and the Speedway, and the Fun House. He was also the first one on the bungee trampoline.
- Anna loved the fun house, the Speedway, the Spider--well, she loved them all.
- Patricia wasn't feeling too good to begin with, that was a bummer.
- Patricia and the three younger went to the hands-on farm exhibit and they loved it. They did that while I was with John and Reed feeling like a sour stomach in the spin cycle.
- We stayed until the gates closed. It was nice to not worry too much about money and just consider this a vacation instead of an FHE. It was really a fun family time. The kids had a blast, they laughed together, and there was no arguing.
- Maybe next year we'll take them out of school early and go a bit earlier. We'll see.
