I really like the second to last verse in the parable of the Prodigal Son. After the “righteous” son complains to his father about the feast for his brother, the Father states:
“Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” (Luke 15:31)
This is a great reminder that we never have need to compare, complain, or criticize. After all, Our Heavenly Father is always with us, and all that He has is ours.
A nice cross-reference to this verse can be found in 1 Corinthians 2:9 –
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
If only I can be ever mindful of eternal priorities.
