Today Hyrum, Reed, and Elizabeth were in Hyrum's room throwing a ball around. Hyrum was throwing it at the walls and Elizabeth was laughing hysterically (as she always does with whatever Hyrum happens to be doing). Then Hyrum knocked a glass goblet off a shelf; it landed on Reed's head with a crack and split into many pieces. Patrica was nearby and quickly assured that everyone was safe. It was a miracle that nobody got even a scratch (unless you count the REALLY tiny scratch on Reed's arm -- and if you ask him that definitely counts!). Anyway, a couple moments after the incident, Hyrum expressed concern that he might be in trouble.
"What about the broken glass, Mom?"
"It's okay, Hyrum, I am just happy that nobody got hurt. Besides, that's Grandpa and Grandma's glass, and I am sure that they aren't mad. They will be happy that everyone is safe."
"But, Mom, when they resurrect won't they be mad at me?"
Needless to say, Patricia assured Hyrum that even when they resurrect, they wouldn't be mad.
That reminded me of another story from years ago. We were at Aunt Sharon's celebrating Grandma's birthday--this was after grandpa had died. We were visiting and eating cake and such. In walked one of my uncles, whom my boys had never met. I hadn't notice how much my uncle looked like my grandpa until Reed stared at him, then asked me, "Dad, did Grandpa resurrect?"
Aren't we blessed to have the restored gospel. It is comforting to know that our relationships with our family and friends will continue through the eternities. I love the example of children as they remind us of these basic, yet beautiful gospel principles.
