I have definitely been bit by the technology bug after having attended the UCET conference. I am scrambling for a way to integrate fun techy stuff into my life in such a way that it will benefit my family (and me) and not just serve as a distraction and toy. There is the family history tie-in, of course; and like Gospel Cougar does in his blog (hotlink on the right), I can share insights from scripture study; it's a great way to keep in touch with family, but few on my side would regularly use a computer, much less the internet (on Patricia's side, however, this could help us keep in touch more than we already do); and. . .
It just so happens that Reed just came in and asked "are you putting stuff in the blog?" He reports on his day: "Well, school was normal. Then, after that, we went to the book fair. I bought Stink #2 (I've already read the first book). I finished Stink #2 today already and now John (my twin) is reading it. That's pretty much all I got to say." Thanks, Reed.
Perhaps we'll get in the habit of updating this as a family from time to time. That would be nice.
A quick note on parenting. I was watching the Cougars CRUSH the Utes last Saturday and the kids joined my for the second half. John and Reed both said: "I hope we win, because we want to tell Brother Young about it!" The Brother Young they are referring to is a neighbor in our ward who is a Ute fan. With no prompting from me, they are already learning to talk smack (in a healthy way of course!). I coached them that the best way to talk smack was to "innocently" ask a simple question like "who won the game last night?" It just so happens that we ran into Brother Young tonight at the school during Parent Teacher Conferences. Sure enough, they asked him "Hey, who won the game on Saturday?"
Perfect. They're learning.
