All he needs

Out of the blue the other day. . .

Hyrum:  You know what?  I'm at the point in my life where I have all that I want and need: healthy food; a good body; lotsa money.

Dad:  How much money do you have?

Hyrum:  Nine dollars, but grandma owes me one, so I'll have ten.

Dad:  That's a great attitude to have.  I know a lot of people who are over 50 years old and can't say that they have all they want and need.

Hyrum:  That's cause they're old, and they're about to die.

What eight year-old begins a sentence with the phrase "I'm at the point in my life. . " anyway?

Too Funny

Two different conversations with my son today:

First:
let's pick it up in the middle of the conversation, after Son has repeatedly asked to go to WalMart. . .
Me: "We are not going to go to Wal-Mart today."
Son: "Fine.  I guess you don't want to be smart or live better."
It took me a second, but then I got it.  The thing is, he wasn't laughing--he was dead serious.

Second:
We're talking about his day's activities, where he went to a very fun place.
Me: "So you're telling me that you didn't have any fun there?"
Son: "Nope."
Me: "You had to have some fun."
Son: "Well if you call 99.9% boring 'some', then yes, I had some fun."
Simply dripping with optimism.

Had to blog it--didn't want to forget.

Great talk--helped clarify my perspective on the atonement.

This is my nephew playing a Jon Schmidt song. If his rendition is the most popular, he'll win concert tickets. Go, Hunter.

Back to Blogging

FB is nice, and it serves it's purpose.  But I miss blogging.  It helps me to focus on the teaching moments in the family--and it provides a nice journal that's easier to access than FB archives. Therefore,  I formally re-commit to update Bite My Shirt at least once each week.  Any fellow blog-slackers reading this?  I challenge you to do the same--just transfer 50% of your FB time to your blogging and you're set.

Now, this won't count as my week's post. . .so stay tuned. . .
